Two partnerships were recently announced to help fuel biotech in Chicago, which will increase early-stage capital for deep tech companies.

Portal Innovations 🤝 UChicago
Portal Innovations is collaborating with the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center to establish a science startup incubator at Hyde Park Labs. This partnership aims to drive scientific research towards impactful commercialization.
The incubator will cover 22,000 square feet at Hyde Park Labs, opening in Q2 2025.
Portal Innovations will manage design, buildout, and daily operations, offering comprehensive support to startups.
Life sciences, quantum, AI, and climate and energy tech will be the primary focus.
Orange Grove Bio 🤝 UChicago
Orange Grove Bio is partnering with the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial development.
Orange Grove Bio will license and develop life sciences technologies from the University, leveraging its financing and evaluation expertise.
Providing scientific and business expertise, Orange Grove Bio will help early-stage company formation, moving research from lab to clinic.
The partnership includes workshops, seminars, networking events, and a PhD internship program for career exploration and industry perspectives.
